It’s both great and strange for me to see more people working with altered text. I first started using the technique about 15 years ago and in my naivety thought I had invented it!! I later discovered a number of other artists using similar methods of working and became fascinated with Artists Books. My books are my life diaries.
I trained in Textile Art at Winchester School of Art, in Hampshire in the UK gaining a BA(hons) in 1999, before moving to London to train and work in a clinical field in the NHS. I continue to work, predominately in the medium of Altered Text Artist Books, directly linked to my own personal experiences of health, illness and disability, reflecting my personal journey through the healthcare system of the UK.
I have exhibited throughout the UK, including an exhibition of the 'Library of Unpublished Books', shown at Waterstones in Central London.
